A few weeks ago, as did much of the UK, we had a few inches of snow. It was enough to cover the fields and reveal the wanderings of animal and bird and I snapped these prints of badger, hare, pheasant and blackbird. I love prints in the snow. They are beautiful and tell their own special story.
Hare prints showing longing stride of a lolloping hare.
The hare was travelling towards the viewer. The two long prints together are from the back feet put down after the front paws.
Pheasant prints crossing right to left over hares
blackbird
In march last year I painted this study of a dead hare found on the road. She was carrying two babies not fare off being born. It was very sad.
